What is a newborn bodysuit with shoulder and crotch snaps?

It is a one-piece garment that fastens in two places instead of pulling on. Two snaps at the left shoulder open the neckline so the garment goes on across the shoulders, and three snaps at the crotch open the bottom for a diaper change without undressing the baby. Between those two openings the body of the garment stays closed, which is the whole point: it does not ride up, it does not separate at the waist, and there is no gap at the back when the baby is lying down. This one is cut with full sleeves, which is what parents of newborns ask for because covered arms stop a baby scratching itself with untrimmed nails.

Why does the shoulder snap matter most in the first weeks?

Because of head circumference. In the first weeks a newborn's head is large relative to the neck opening, so a garment without a shoulder opening has to be stretched over it, applying sideways force at exactly the stage when a parent is least confident about supporting the head and neck. The shoulder snap removes that step. It is a three-second demonstration at the counter: open the shoulder, show how flat the neckline lies, and the specification sells itself without anyone reading a label. It is also the detail a first-time parent does not know to look for until someone shows them.

What does the fabric have to do at the snap placket?

Hold its shape at the one part of the garment that is opened every day. Three snaps at the crotch and two at the shoulder mean the cloth there is pulled apart, closed and stretched more than anywhere else on the bodysuit, and a knit that does not recover leaves a placket that gapes between the snaps within weeks. That is what the specification is for. Interlock is a double-knit, so the edge does not curl away from the snap tape the way a single jersey does, and at 180 to 190 GSM the fabric has the body to lie flat against the tape rather than rippling between fasteners. Combing the yarn at 40s takes the short fibres out before spinning, which is what keeps the surface from going rough at the crotch, where a diaper change rubs it several times a day.

Should you stock a chest print or an all-over print bodysuit?

They sell to two different decisions and most counters want both. A chest print like this one puts a single character on a plain ground, so the customer chooses the character: the penguin, the bear, the one that made them smile. That makes it easy to remember, easy to ask for again, and it keeps the rest of the garment neutral enough to pair with any bottom you already stock. An all-over print reads as a finished outfit from across the shop and does the display work, which is a different job. If you carry only one, carry the one your customers ask for by name. Our all-over print alternative is the printed interlock newborn bodysuit, which ships in packs of 10.

How should a 5-colour pack of 15 sit on your shelf?

As depth in one style, not breadth across several. Five colours of the same bodysuit is five pegs a customer can compare at a glance without anyone explaining five different garments, and it is the arrangement a chest print needs, because the decision being made at the peg is which character, not which style. It also means a colour that does not move is a fraction of the pack rather than the whole of it. Retailer markup on this pack runs 90 to 130 percent. Keep the five colours together and keep the print facing out, because the print is the part a customer remembers when they come back for the second one.
