You deal directly with the unit that sources the fabric, cuts, stitches, prints and packs. There is no agent between you and the floor.

What does Cotton Basket manufacture for private label brands?

Babywear, in knit and woven cotton fabrics, for daily and casual wear. The Custom Manufacturing Portfolio shows garments we have already produced, each with its construction, fabric and the minimum for a custom run. It is a record of past work, not the limit of what we make. If your garment is not in it, send the design or a reference piece and we quote it the same way. We also take simple adult knitwear such as t-shirts, shorts and polos. Anything outside babywear and basic knitwear is a no, and we say so at the first message rather than after sampling.

What is the minimum order for a private label run?

The minimum is set per garment by its construction and fabric. Plain garments in fabrics our vendors hold in stock start from 100 pieces per style. Printed constructions, dyed-to-order colours and fabrics that have to be made carry higher minimums, because print screens, dye lots and yarn quantities each set their own floor. Every portfolio product page states the minimum for that garment. There is no minimum to ask a question or request swatches.

What do you need to bring to start?

A photo of the garment you want and the changes that make it yours, or your own design. Your size chart and measurements. A target price per piece or a fabric specification. Your approximate quantity per style and colour. Print-ready artwork if the garment is printed. You do not need a technical document; most brands we work with start from a reference image and a WhatsApp conversation. A physical reference garment is useful once the fabric is locked, to match construction detail, and is not needed before that.

How is the fabric chosen?

We match your specification to the closest fabric available from the vendors we work with, which is how most orders run, and send physical swatches by courier or post. Swatches are paid for and go out within 48 hours of your request, often the same day. For large multi-colour runs we start from yarn and have the fabric knitted or woven to your count and GSM. Either way, nothing is cut until you have held the swatch and approved it. The fabric is chosen to fit the garment and your price point, not defaulted to one construction for everything.

How does sampling work?

On swatch approval you share your design and measurements and pay the sampling advance, which is fully deducted from the bulk invoice. The stitched sample leaves the factory 7 to 21 days later, by courier. The sample is checked against your size chart for fit, against the approved swatch for fabric hand, and against your artwork for print placement. Most orders move to bulk after one round; a few need a second for a fit or placement correction. Your written approval of the sample is what starts production, and that sample becomes the reference bulk is judged against. Repeat runs skip sampling: we retain a production sample from your last order and match to it.

What does the quote include?

One price per piece for the finished garment. Trims that carry vendor minimums, such as printed polybags or boxes, are quoted as their own line so you can see them and decide. All billing is in INR. For export orders we quote full FOB, not ex-factory, and the forwarding agent you appoint is the billed party through whom payment moves.

How do labels, tags and packaging work on a small order?

Labels, tags, polybags, printed boxes and corrugated cartons are made by trim vendors, and each vendor has its own minimum that does not shrink to your garment quantity. A 150-piece order may need a printed polybag whose vendor minimum is thousands. In that case the full quantity is bought, billed as a separate line, used for your order, and the remainder is handed over to you. Where a per-piece option exists, such as DTF-printed labels, it is made to your exact count with no separate line. You can also supply your own trims. We can produce everything customised through our vendors; the honest constraint is the vendor minimum, and we tell you what it is before you commit.

What are the payment terms and how long does production take?

Bulk production starts on receipt of 50% order confirmation payment. The remaining 50% is collected when the shipment is ready for dispatch. The advance is what locks fabric, sizes and quantities; smaller decisions like which label to sew in stay open until they are needed. Most orders take 3 to 12 weeks from advance to dispatch. Fabric procurement, dyeing, print development and trim vendor lead times each push toward the far end; a plain garment in a stock fabric sits at the near end.

How are you kept informed during production?

We usually open a WhatsApp group with your team and ours and keep you updated as the order moves: a text when fabric lands, a photo from the cutting table, a note when stitching starts. Specific photos or videos, such as packed cartons before dispatch, are sent when you ask for them. The group stays open after dispatch for the next order.

How is the order delivered?

For brands in India, finished goods are handed to a transporter of your choice. Freight is paid by you, and you choose door delivery or collection from the transporter's office in your city. For export, we ship LCL on FOB terms and hand the consignment to your forwarding agent at the port. Packing and labelling follow your destination market's requirements, and compliance is settled with you before production, not at the port.

Who owns the designs, prints and patterns?

Your designs and prints belong to you. We do not reproduce them for anyone else and they never appear in our portfolio; the portfolio shows only the construction, with the client's artwork left out. Measurements carry no proprietary claim either way. The production sample we retain is used only to match your repeat runs.
